Lohne, 22 October 2009 – EnviTec Biogas AG (ISIN: DE000A0MVLS8), Lohne, Germany, has been contracted by BKN biostrom AG for the planning and building of biogas plants in Germany with a total electrical output of 4.5 megawatts (MW). The contract has a total volume of more than EUR 10 million.
The main part of the contract is the execution of a project in Guben, Brandenburg, where a Biogas plant with a total electrical output of 3.5 megawatts (MW) will be erected. Renewable resources will be used as input materials. After the preparation into natural gas quality, the plant will feed six million cubic metres of biogas per year into the public grid for the decentral use as electricity and heat. In addition, EnviTec Biogas delivers several combined heat-and-power plants which will be installed in Guben and cover the heat requirements of almost 4,000 households. The construction is planned to start in the beginning of 2010. “The technology, to use the upgraded biogas decentrally through local grids and not to produce electricity where the plant is located, expands the application possibilities of biogas even further,” says Günter Schlotmann, COO of BKN biostrom. “We are happy that BKN has chosen us for this ambitious project. Biogas is the most efficient renewable energy. That is what we exemplify at this site impressively,“ says Kunibert Ruhe, Chief Technology Officer of EnviTec Biogas. “Biogas has a lot of potential, especially as an environmentally friendly option for natural gas and EnviTec is a leading player in this market.” In addition to the major project, EnviTec will deliver two biogas plants with an electrical output of 500 kilowatt each.
EnviTec Biogas AG covers the entire value chain for the production of biogas - including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants as well as their commissioning. The company provides the biological and technical service and also offers the full plant and operating management. In Güstrow, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, EnviTec built the world’s largest plant for the production of biogas to natural gas standards with a thermal output of 55 megawatts. In addition, the company also operates its own biogas plants. Today, the company is represented in more than 15 countries throughout Europe and as well in China and South Korea. In 2008 EnviTec generated revenues of EUR 101 million and EBIT of EUR 3.2 million. The EnviTec Group currently has about 377 employees. Since July 2007 EnviTec is listed on the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
