EnviTec Biogas reports continued growth

Rising worldwide demand requires expansion of capacities.   - Expansion of production at Saerbeck and Lohne - 80 new jobs in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony - Biogas plant manufacturer investing a total of EUR 2 million

Lohne, 01 October 2008 – More and more governments are waking up to the potential of biogas as an alternative to fossil energy. Its key advantages: biogas is easy to store, is independent of weather conditions and it can meet both baseload and peak load requirements. Biogas becomes more and more an important part of the international energie mix through the processing of animal manure, renewable resources, sewage sludge or organic residues. Numerous farmers, professional investors and energy providers have opted to partner with industry leader EnviTec Biogas. The company is meanwhile active in 17 countries and has connected plants rated for a total combined output of 125 megawatts to the grids. To satisfy the rising demand from German and international customers, the company is now expanding its capacities. A 1,200 sqm wing will be added to the approximately 2,400 sqm administrative building in Saerbeck in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The new facility will house 40 new employees in project management. This approximately EUR 1.3 million investment is to be completed before year-end. The extension of the head office in Lohne in the German state of Lower Saxony has already been completed, offering space for another 40 employees working in the Own Plant Operation, Controlling, Accounting and Service units.

Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas, said: “Top-notch project management capabilities are a precondition for responding fast and flexibly to the enormous demand for biogas plants. This is why we manage a substantial part of our international projects out of Germany.” Olaf von Lehmden is convinced that the expansion of EnviTec Biogas AG’s two locations holds excellent prospects for the future of the company which currently employs some 280 staff. The headcount in Lohne and Saerbeck stands at 73 and 189, respectively.

EnviTec Biogas AG covers the entire value chain for the production of biogas - including the planning and turnkey construction of biogas plants as well as their commissioning. The company provides the biological and technical service and also offers the full plant and operating management. In addition, the company also operates its own biogas plants. In Penkun, in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, EnviTec constructed the world's largest biogas park with an electrical connected load of 20 megawatts. Today, the company is represented in more than 14 countries throughout Europe and as well in China and India. In 2007 EnviTec generated revenues of EUR 132 million and EBIT of EUR 18 million. The EnviTec Group has about 280 employees. Since July 2007 EnviTec is listed on the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
