Record results expected in all company divisions

EnviTec Biogas makes an optimistic start to the New Year

05 January 2023 The 20th year in business for EnviTec Biogas AG has come to an end. “Despite all of the uncertainties we are currently experiencing, we start the New Year with renewed optimism,” says Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of the German biogas all-rounder from Lohne/Saerbeck. “And we’ve never been better positioned to do so, thanks to our team spirit and our power to innovate.” The biogas all-rounder is expecting to see each of its business segments return their best results since the formation of EnviTec Biogas 20 years ago.

“Our market is currently experiencing a watershed moment,” von Lehmden continues. For the first time, plants can now be built without state subsidies in Germany – something that long seemed impossible. “We’re a key driver of this change as we promote climate change mitigation,” the CEO says, summing-up the past year in business.  This change has not only improved the bottom line for this Lower Saxony-based company but has also allowed it to expand significantly. “Over the last three years alone, we’ve welcomed no less than 125 new colleagues to EnviTec,” reports Katrin Hackfort, responsible for HR and Corporate Communications.

The innovative biogas service provider is looking to sustain this growth trajectory into the future with business in the new market for advanced fuels. “In 2023, we will commence our first activities in the bio-LNG sector,” explains Olaf von Lehmden. In Güstrow (Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania), construction work on Germany’s largest integrated bio-LNG plant is now well underway.

“Starting in 2023, this will let us operate for the first time as an independent supplier of zero-carbon fuel for utility and heavy goods vehicles,” von Lehmden continues. “This new market not only improves prospects in our own business segments but also offers small and medium-sized plant operators in particular the chance to maintain the profitability of their plants as producers of the key resource of biomethane following the expiry of subsidies from German EEG legislation.” In 2022, this approach – ‘Turning waste materials into green fuels – driving the transition to sustainable transport with biofuels from Germany’ – also netted EnviTec Biogas the Biogas Innovation Prize in the ‘Business’ category, impressing a jury consisting of researchers and representatives of the German Farmers’ Association (DBV), German Biogas Association and Federal Bioenergy Association (BBE).

Alongside the growth market of bio-LNG, the CEO points to other plants in Own Operations, such as Biogas Forst GmbH & Co. KG, which will also be the focus of further investment in 2023. “All things considered, we can look forward to a very positive new financial year,” von Lehmden concludes.
