Nine training programs offering sustainable career prospects
Lohne/Saerbeck, 7 August 2025 – Arriving, finding your bearings, and feeling at home within your new team – that’s the goal of EnviTec Biogas’ annual orientation days for apprentices. On August 1, seven young people began their vocational training at the company’s Lohne and Saerbeck sites, while two more trainees had already joined the biogas allrounder earlier this year, in February and April. “Our onboarding process is very well received by our new team members,” says Jan-Carlos Gartenschläger, Head of Training at EnviTec Biogas AG.
Gartenschläger has been organizing the three-day welcome event for three years now. “Each year, we break a new record – our training numbers continue to grow, and that’s something we can be proud of,” he adds. With a total of 23 apprentices, the company has now reached a new all-time high.
It’s not only the number of trainees that’s rising – the range of vocational options is expanding too. With two new training paths now available – “Electronics Technician for Automation Technology” in Lohne and “Warehouse Logistics Specialist” in Saerbeck – EnviTec is continuing to broaden its offering. “With nine vocational training programs in total, we’re strengthening our two locations in Lohne and Saerbeck in terms of both developing and attracting skilled professionals,” explains Katrin Hackfort, Head of Human Resources and Corporate Communications. “Just last year, we hired all four of our trainees after they successfully completed their training.”
A Double First
For Shaho Ebrahimi, the onboarding days marked a double milestone: “I’m not only new to the EnviTec Biogas team, but also the first-ever apprentice in electrical engineering at the company,” says the 18-year-old. Johann Brämswig, who is studying industrial engineering in a dual program at PHWT Diepholz, is also excited: “I’m fascinated by the link between business and technology – combining academic studies with practical experience at EnviTec Biogas feels like exactly the right choice.”
After the first day, which focused on general information about training paths and dual studies, the group headed to a team-building event in Ostbevern. There, the newly recruited EnviTec apprentices and students joined those in their second to fourth year to face challenges and grow together as a team.
The final day included a visit to the company’s production site in Saerbeck and a talk by Maurice Markerink, Managing Director of EnviTec Plant Construction. He reflected on his own career journey and congratulated the group on their decision: “Choosing an apprenticeship or degree in the biogas sector means taking your future into your own hands – and making a real contribution to climate protection.”
That all available training positions were filled is not something to be taken for granted, says Olaf von Lehmden, CEO of EnviTec Biogas AG and board member responsible for HR:
“With over 50 successful apprenticeships completed in the past 22 years, we’re proud to be tackling the ongoing shortage of skilled workers through consistent and value-driven HR work.”
