Flexible performance increase to 1,510 Nm3/h convinces Danish customer

100th EnviThan plant from EnviTec Biogas put into operation

After successful cold commissioning and subsequent shipment to Denmark by sea, the 100th EnviThan gas upgrading plant built by EnviTec Biogas is now ready for everyday operation! “The functional test at our production plant in Saerbeck, which was attended by our customer Lars Nielsen from Lykkeslund Farm, paved the way for the recent commissioning,” says Maurice Markerink, Managing Director of EnviTec Plant Construction. The anniversary plant can now achieve an impressive total capacity of 1,510 Nm³/h, Markerink continues.

This expansion marks the second time Lars Nielsen has placed his trust in the expertise of Germany’s largest biogas manufacturer: EnviTec first implemented a gas upgrading system at Lykkeslund Farm in 2017, starting with a capacity of 396 Nm³ of biomethane per hour. In two expansion phases, the capacity was then increased to 468 Nm³ and finally 510 Nm³. “The new capacity expansion to 1,510 Nm³/h enables a gradual and flexible increase of the plant’s output,” explains Markerink – an argument that convinced the customer right from the start.

Efficiency, profitability, and sustainability

This flexibility allows operator Lars Nielsen to respond better to fluctuating market conditions and demand while marketing the produced gas from liquid manure and residues separately Efficiency has also improved, as production can be adjusted to the required volume of gas. “This enables us to save resources while minimizing costs, a real win-win in terms of sustainability for both the environment and the economy,” says EnviTec customer Nielsen.

An innovation of the plant is that it integrates the entire 1,000 Nm³/h EnviThan technology into just one 45’ container, with only the gas compressor located in a high-quality soundproof cabin. Markerink continues: “This way, the entire gas upgrading technology fits into a single EnviThan container, making it even more space-saving and cost-effective than the first two-container plant with half the capacity.”

The biogas upgrading market plays an essential role in Denmark’s energy policy and its strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. According to the industrial association Biogas Danmark, 37% of gas consumption in our neighboring country is currently covered by biomethane. EnviTec Biogas has been active in Denmark for more than eight years. With a total of thirteen completed biogas projects and a total capacity of 9,910 Nm³/h of biomethane, the biogas all-rounder from Lower Saxony continues to successfully assert itself among Europe’s pioneers in climate neutrality!
