Excellent heat utilisation, flexible operation and wild plants as input material – these are the three ingredients of success of the biogas plant operated by Saergas GmbH & Co. KG in the Saerbeck Bioenergy Park. Built by EnviTec Biogas in 2011, the plant has just been awarded the title of “Plant of the Month of March” by the Regional Association for Renewable Energies of North Rhine-Westphalia and the German Biogas Association. One of the criteria for this title is a particularly sustainable plant concept to serve as a blueprint for new plants.
“We are proud that our plant has received such attention even after twelve years of operation”, says Christian Eilert, EnviTec Sales Manager Germany. The plant is operated by Saergas GmbH & Co. KG, a company of 16 farmers, as well as EnviTec Biogas and the machinery cooperative Maschinenring Steinfurt-Bentheim. It is part of the Saerbeck Bioenergy Park, which has won multiple awards. The plant is distinguished above all by its flexibility: the plant only runs when there is a high demand for electricity.
